Mercator initiates sale of 50 real estate properties in Slovenia

Mercator, one of Slovenia’s largest retailers, has launched a significant sale of approximately 50 real estate properties across the country. The assets, which include former retail locations and business spaces, have a combined advertised value exceeding 36 million euros.

The properties are located in various Slovenian cities, including Ljubljana, Maribor, Kranj, Novo Mesto, Celje, and Koper. These sites are largely former stores that are no longer part of the company’s active retail network. The proceeds from these sales are intended to be used for reducing Mercator’s debt.

This follows a previous sale in March involving 25 properties. Additionally, in late 2025, FNG Property SI, owned by the Fortenova Group, sold its business tower on Dunajska cesta in Ljubljana—which serves as Mercator’s headquarters—to a company owned by Miha Ažman for 13.5 million euros. Reports suggest the sale of the headquarters was linked to a reduction in staff requirements, though the company has not officially stated the reasons for these real estate transactions.
