Mercedes 200 D reaches 831,000 km after 40 years of use

Marie-Ange Gerbal has driven the same 1985 Mercedes 200 D for nearly forty years. Having purchased the vehicle used in 1987 with 50,000 kilometers on the odometer, the car has now surpassed 831,000 kilometers.

Nicknamed ‘La Venerable’, the Mercedes W124 continues to be used as a daily driver on the roads of the Pyrenees. The vehicle has served four generations of the family, spanning from Gerbal’s mother to her grandchildren. Gerbal cites the car’s comfort, large trunk space, and diesel engine reliability as primary reasons for its long-term use.

Despite its age and lack of modern performance, the owner expresses a strong bond with the vehicle and aims to eventually reach the milestone of one million kilometers.
