Mercedes-AMG announces return to Macau FIA GT World Cup
Mercedes-AMG has announced its return to the FIA GT World Cup in Macau, fielding three cars across two teams for the event scheduled from November 19 to 22. This marks a comeback for the manufacturer following a previous absence.
Craft-Bamboo Racing will enter two cars, driven by Maro Engel and Hong Kong’s Adderly Fong. The third Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be prepared by the Australian debutant Tigani Motorsport, with Lucas Auer behind the wheel. Maro Engel, a highly experienced GT3 driver and record winner at Macau, is considered a primary contender for the title.
The manufacturer noted that preparation and simulation work are being prioritized to address the mandatory use of torque sensors, which requires specific experience at the Guia Circuit. Previous reports suggested the brand's absence was linked to the development of a new GT3 model to replace the C190, but the company has since unveiled glimpses of a new generation of racers.
