Mercedes-Benz rolls out electric C‑Class and brings V8 engines back to AMG line‑up

Mercedes‑Benz announced an all‑electric version of its C‑Class for the 2027 model year, promising up to 800 km of range, 64‑94 kWh batteries and a top‑spec AMG C‑63 that could exceed 800 hp using Yasa axial‑flux motors.

At the same time the brand unveiled a refreshed AMG GLS 63 S 4MATIC+ for Europe, equipped with a new 4.0‑litre twin‑turbo V8 (M177 EVO) delivering 612 hp and a 48 V mild‑hybrid system that adds 23 hp and improves low‑rpm torque. The SUV accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and tops out at 280 km/h.

Separately, Mercedes‑AMG confirmed that the upcoming CLE 63 will also revive the V8 bi‑turbo powertrain, replacing the previous four‑cylinder hybrid. The 4.0 litre V8 is expected to output around 600 hp, with a special “Mythos” version targeting over 650 hp, addressing customer demand for traditional V8 sound and performance.
