Mercedes-AMG expands lineup with GT SUV and potential Hammer restomod

Mercedes-AMG is expanding its vehicle portfolio with the introduction of the GT SUV, a new electric performance SUV. The international lineup includes the GT 53, GT 55, and GT 63 models. The GT 53 SUV features a dual-motor system producing 400 kilowatts (544 horsepower), utilizing a two-speed transmission on the rear axle and active rear-axle steering. While the GT 53 is launching first, the GT 55 and GT 63 versions are expected to arrive in spring 2027.

Separately, German engineering firm HWA has teased a restomod project inspired by the legendary AMG Hammer. Originally a high-performance version of the Mercedes-Benz 300E from the 1980s, the Hammer was known for its 5.5-liter V8 engine and significant speed. HWA, a company founded by former AMG founder Hans Werner Aufrecht, is expected to develop a modern interpretation of this iconic vehicle.
