Mercedes-AMG sued over alleged seat logo burn hazard

Two drivers have filed a class action lawsuit against Mercedes-AMG in the U.S. District Court of California, alleging a design defect in certain vehicle front seats. The plaintiffs, Gabriel Lahijani and Karendeep “Karina” Bath, claim that raised metallic AMG logos on the seats become excessively hot when exposed to sunlight, causing thermal contact burns to occupants' skin.

Lahijani, who leased a 2026 Mercedes-AMG E-Class, reported receiving second-degree burns on his back. A dermatologist documented the injury as “AMG inscribed.” Bath reported a similar incident where the logo allegedly left a darkened mark on her shoulder.

The lawsuit seeks compensation for medical expenses, pain, suffering, and emotional distress. Additionally, the plaintiffs are requesting that Mercedes-Benz cover the costs for other owners to have the metallic logos removed from their vehicles.
