Mercedes-AMG marks F1 Safety Car anniversary and sets Nürburgring record

Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG have reached two significant milestones in automotive performance and racing. To celebrate 30 years as the Formula 1 Safety Car, the company introduced the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+. Debuting at the Hungarian Grand Prix, this vehicle is the first F1 Safety Car to feature a fully variable all-wheel-drive system. It is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine producing 612 CV and 850 Nm of torque, capable of reaching speeds of 317 km/h. The car includes specialized aerodynamics, such as a modified rear wing with an active flap, and an integrated lighting system for signaling drivers.

In a separate achievement, Mercedes-AMG set a new record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with the electric CLA 45 4MATIC+. Driven by Kevin Berger, the vehicle completed the circuit in 7:32.070, making it the fastest four-door vehicle in its category. The electric model utilizes three axial flux motors producing a combined 680 CV, enabling a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 2.7 seconds. The car features AMG Performance 4MATIC+ technology, which allows for independent torque vectoring across the wheels.
