Mercedes-AMG tests new CLE 63 prototype and autonomous driving technology

Mercedes-AMG is conducting various prototype tests for upcoming vehicle models. A 2027 Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 prototype, featuring a matte black finish and camouflage, was recently spotted in the United States. The vehicle is expected to utilize a 4.0L flat-plane crank V8 engine, similar to the unit found in the current S-Class.

Additionally, an autonomous driving test is underway using a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Coupe. The vehicle, equipped with roof-mounted mapping hardware such as lidar or GPS, was used to survey the Nurburgring Nordschleife. During these tests, the car was driven at conservative speeds to collect precise positional data, with a driver present only as an emergency fallback while the autonomous system managed the vehicle.
