Mercedes-AMG unveils 27 new models and upgraded V8 engine

Mercedes-AMG announced a major product expansion, planning to introduce more than 27 new models over the next three years. The rollout will span high‑performance internal‑combustion vehicles and a new generation of fully electric models built on the AMG EA platform, including an electric SUV. Michael Schiebe, head of Mercedes‑AMG, said the company will cut its engine families from ten to four, concentrating on an advanced V8 and a sophisticated six‑cylinder unit.

The refreshed GLE 63 S and GLS 63 4MATIC+ now use the M177 EVO V8, featuring a flat‑plane crank, updated camshaft, optimized injection and a next‑generation exhaust after‑treatment system. Integrated with a 48 V mild‑hybrid system, the power unit delivers 450 kW (612 hp) and 850 Nm of torque while complying with stricter global emissions standards. The expansion also includes new variants such as a high‑output CLE, an open‑top G63, a Black Series AMG GT, the C53 sedan, and electric offerings on the dedicated platform.
