Mercedes-Benz announces major 2026 S-Class update

Mercedes-Benz has announced an extensive update to its flagship S-Class for 2026, marking a significant overhaul of the current generation. The update involves approximately 2,700 newly developed or re-engineered components, affecting more than half of the vehicle.

Key enhancements include a redesigned exterior with a larger, illuminated grille and new twin-star DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps utilizing micro-LED technology. The lighting system can provide an illumination field 40 percent larger than previous versions, with high beams reaching up to 600 meters.

Internally, the vehicle transitions to the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). This centralized computing architecture manages functions from infotainment to driver assistance and enables over-the-air updates via cloud connectivity. The update also encompasses reworked electronics, suspension, powertrains, and interior technology.
