Mercedes-Benz begins in-house Marco Polo production in Ludwigsfelde

Mercedes-Benz has commenced production of the new Marco Polo camper van at its Ludwigsfelde plant in Germany. This marks a significant milestone for the model, which has a history spanning over 40 years, as it is being manufactured entirely within the Mercedes-Benz production network for the first time.

Under the new production model, the V-Class base vehicles will continue to be produced at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Vitoria, Spain. These vehicles will then undergo conversion into camper vans at the dedicated facility in Ludwigsfelde. This transition ends a long-standing partnership with Westfalia, which had been producing the Marco Polo on behalf of Mercedes since 1984.

The new Marco Polo features several upgrades designed to enhance comfort and connectivity, including improved acoustics, lighting, blackout concepts, and a greater sense of spaciousness. The new model is currently available for order in Germany and other European markets.
