Mercedes-Benz expands electric GLC SUV presence in Thailand and Hong Kong

Mercedes-Benz is expanding its electric vehicle presence in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong with the introduction of the new all-electric GLC SUV.

In Thailand, Mercedes-Benz Thailand plans to assemble the GLC EV locally at the Tonburi Automotive Assembly Plant in Samut Prakan. The company aims to price the model below 3.7 million baht. Production is expected to begin with deliveries slated for the second quarter of next year. This move aligns with Thai government policies that favor locally produced electric vehicles through tax incentives. The GLC EV will utilize the new MB.EA-M dedicated EV platform.

In Hong Kong, the new electric GLC is also making its debut, positioned to compete with the BMW iX3. Available models include the rear-wheel-drive GLC 250 AMG Line and the high-performance GLC 400 4MATIC Edition 140. The vehicles feature an 800V architecture and a 94kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a WLTP range of up to 650km for the entry-level model. The interior features the MBUX Superscreen and AI-driven MB.OS operating system.
