Mercedes-Benz expands global electric and hybrid vehicle lineup

Mercedes-Benz is expanding its electric and hybrid vehicle lineup across several global markets. In India, the company has opened bookings for the GLC Electric, which will be locally assembled in Pune. The SUV features a 94kWh battery with a WLTP range of up to 715km. Additionally, the ultra-luxury Maybach S 580e plug-in hybrid has launched in India, with an initial limited release of 30 units.

In Taiwan, pre-sales have begun for the electric GLC, with models starting at 2.89 million TWD. In Europe, Mercedes is introducing more battery variants for the GLC, including a 64kWh LFP option, and has made Steer-by-Wire technology available for the EQS limousine. Furthermore, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+ electric performance model is now available for order in Norway.

On the supply side, LG Energy Solution is reportedly planning to produce 46100-format round cells in Wroclaw, Poland, starting in 2027 to supply Mercedes-Benz's next generation of electric vehicles by 2028.
