Mercedes-Benz faces lawsuit over AMG seat logo burns

Two Mercedes-AMG owners in California have filed a class-action lawsuit against Mercedes-Benz, alleging that metal AMG logos embedded in certain vehicle seats cause burn injuries. The plaintiffs claim the protruding metal emblems can reach extreme temperatures when vehicles are exposed to direct sunlight, making contact with a driver's back, neck, or shoulders.

One plaintiff, Gabriel Lahijani, reported sustaining first- and second-degree burns after sitting in a leased 2026 Mercedes-AMG E-Class while wearing a tank top. Medical documentation reportedly described the injury as having the shape of the ‘AMG’ lettering. A second plaintiff, Karina Bath, experienced similar burns on her shoulder after returning to a parked vehicle, resulting in a lasting discoloration in the shape of the logo.

The lawsuit seeks compensation for medical expenses, pain, suffering, and emotional distress. Additionally, the plaintiffs are requesting that Mercedes-Benz cover the costs of removing the metal logos from the seats of affected vehicles.
