Mercedes-Benz found with 650,000 km odometer fraud in Czech Republic
A Mercedes-Benz vehicle was identified in the Czech Republic with an odometer reading approximately 650,000 kilometers lower than its actual mileage. The car, which has nearly 900,000 kilometers of total travel, was imported from Slovakia two years ago.
According to the vehicle history company Cebia, the odometer reading had been reduced by nearly 75 percent of its true value. Cebia reported that the vehicle's history contained 16 odometer records from Slovakia and eight records from the Czech Republic showing reduced mileage.
When the seller attempted to list the vehicle, the discrepancy was flagged during a history check. Cebia's director, Martin Pajer, stated that the seller initially claimed the records were typos but later responded with vulgarity and legal threats when unable to have the records removed. The vehicle has since been withdrawn from advertisement.
