Mercedes-Benz launches 1 billion euro share buyback program
Mercedes-Benz Group is initiating a share buyback program of up to 1 billion euros. Scheduled to run from September 1, 2026, to April 6, 2027, the company intends to repurchase up to 58 million shares through stock exchanges or multilateral trading systems. The repurchased shares are slated to be canceled.
The company is currently navigating a challenging economic environment, marked by a decline in sales in China, which fell by 30%. However, sales increased in Europe by 4% and in the United States by 10%. A significant growth trend was noted in the electric vehicle segment, where sales rose by 51% to approximately 52,000 units.
While total vehicle sales decreased from 453,000 to 417,000 units compared to the previous year, adjusted EBIT improved from 2.0 billion to 2.3 billion euros. This growth was primarily driven by the Financial Services and Vans segments, whereas the Cars segment saw an EBIT decline from 1.2 billion to 0.9 billion euros.
