Mercedes-Benz launches AI‑enhanced S-Class sedan in Japan and India

Mercedes‑Benz introduced the 2026 S‑Class, its flagship luxury sedan, in both Japan and India. The model receives a comprehensive redesign with over 2,700 new or re‑engineered parts and a larger illuminated grille. A proprietary operating system, MB.OS, powers the fourth‑generation MBUX infotainment suite and a full‑width MBUX Superscreen, while an integrated AI virtual assistant based on large‑language models enables natural‑language vehicle controls.

In Japan the first‑run version, the S 450 d 4MATIC, is equipped with a new 3.0‑liter inline‑six diesel engine and an integrated starter‑generator, priced at ¥15.98 million. In India, Mercedes‑Benz launched the S 450e plug‑in hybrid, combining a 3.0‑liter turbocharged inline‑six petrol engine with a 22 kWh battery for 435 hp and up to 115 km of electric‑only range. The Indian variant is priced between ₹2.20 cr and ₹2.38 cr, with bookings open and deliveries slated for Diwali 2026. Both markets receive upgraded safety systems, adaptive suspension and premium interior features such as rear‑seat massage and Burmester 4D sound.
