Mercedes-Benz celebrates 140 years of innovation
Mercedes-Benz is celebrating its 140th anniversary of automotive innovation, marked by a global campaign titled “140 Years. 140 Places.” This initiative involves a transcontinental journey with S-Class sedans traveling over 60,000 kilometers across six continents to visit locations significant to the brand's history. In Kenya, the brand recently hosted an event at the Muthaiga Golf & Country Club to showcase the new S-Class and celebrate its long-standing presence in the region.
To commemorate the milestone, luxury watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen has released a limited-edition timepiece: the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar ProSet 140 Years Mercedes-Benz. Only 140 pieces are available, reflecting the anniversary year. The watch features IWC’s new Perpetual Calendar ProSet mechanism, which allows for both forward and backward calendar adjustments via a single crown position.
The watch design includes a black dial with gold accents and a sapphire-glass case back engraved with the 1926 joint logo of Daimler Motoren-Gesellschaft and Benz & Cie. This collaboration highlights the long-standing partnership between IWC and Mercedes-Benz, which includes engineering support for the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team.
