Mercedes-Benz recalls over 58,000 vehicles in Australia

Mercedes-Benz Australia has issued a recall for 58,822 vehicles produced between 2018 and 2026 due to a manufacturing defect. The issue involves a door-lock microswitch that may be susceptible to water damage, potentially preventing the vehicle from automatically shifting into park when the door is opened.

The company warned that a failure of this auto park feature could lead to unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of accidents, injury, or death. Affected model lines include various versions of the A-Class, B-Class, C-Class, CLA, CLE, EQA, GLA, GLB, and GLC.

Mercedes-Benz stated that owners of affected vehicles will be contacted to schedule free repairs at authorized dealerships once necessary parts become available. In the interim, drivers are advised to manually engage the park position on the gear selector and apply the parking brake before leaving the vehicle.
