Mercedes-Benz S-Class completes 65,000-km global tour

Three Mercedes-Benz S-Class limousines, named Bertha, Carl, and Gottlieb, have completed a 65,000-kilometer global journey, returning to the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. The expedition spanned six continents, 55 countries, and 13 climate zones, including extreme conditions such as the Himalayas at 5,800 meters, monsoon flooding in India, and unpaved tracks in Kenya, Tanzania, and Zambia.

The tour, titled ‘140 Years. 140 Places’, was launched on January 29, 2026, to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Carl Benz’s patent for a vehicle with an internal combustion engine. The journey served as a rigorous real-world durability test for the S-Class models, supplementing traditional laboratory testing.

The homecoming event, ‘The 140 Festival’, drew approximately 15,000 visitors and featured a convoy of 140 historical and modern vehicles. A major highlight of the celebration was the world premiere of the new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV.
