Mercedes-Benz to assemble electric GLC SUV in Thailand

Mercedes-Benz has announced plans to locally assemble the electric GLC SUV in Thailand to strengthen its position in the growing electric vehicle market. The production will take place at the Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant (TAAP) in Samut Prakan province.

The electric GLC will be the second model produced in Thailand based on the new Mercedes-Benz Electric Architecture (MB. EA), following the CLA. The vehicle will utilize the MB. EA-M platform designed for mid-size electric cars and will feature a locally assembled 85 kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a WLTP range of over 600 kilometers.

Christian Schell, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Thailand, stated that the company expects high demand for this model in the popular mid-size SUV segment. The official premiere is scheduled for the Motor Expo 2026, with customer deliveries expected to begin between the first and second quarters of 2027. The expected price for the model is under 3.7 million baht (approximately €97,000).
