Mercedes-Benz to discontinue three models by 2027
Mercedes-Benz has announced a strategic restructuring of its vehicle lineup, planning to discontinue three specific models by the 2027 model year. This move signals a shift away from the company’s previous independent electric vehicle design strategy toward a model where electric vehicles align more closely with traditional model families.
The models slated for removal include the EQE sedan, the Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance, and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV. The discontinuation of the EQE sedan marks the end of an era for the brand’s initial EQ strategy, which utilized unique names and distinct aerodynamic design languages separate from the classic E-Class.
Additionally, the high-performance Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance, a plug-in hybrid featuring a V8 engine, will be phased out. These changes are expected to impact the US market significantly as the company streamlines its portfolio to improve efficiency and market alignment.
