Mercedes-Benz to integrate Wayve AI Driver in vehicles within two years

Mercedes-Benz and British AI startup Wayve have signed a definitive production agreement to integrate the Wayve AI Driver into future Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The partnership aims to deploy advanced point-to-point driving assistance for both urban and highway environments within the next two years.

Wayve’s technology utilizes an “AV2.0” approach, an end-to-end embodied AI system that learns to drive from data rather than relying on hand-coded rules or high-definition maps. This allows the software to generalize to new cities and environments without specific retraining or geofencing. The system has already been integrated into Mercedes-Benz’s production architecture, including its MB.OS operating system and hardware.

The deal follows a strategic investment by Mercedes-Benz in Wayve’s Series D funding round earlier this year. While Mercedes-Benz continues to offer its own Level 3 Drive Pilot system for certain highway conditions, the Wayve integration represents a new capability focused on complex urban navigation. The AI infrastructure for Wayve is supported by Nvidia and hosted on Microsoft Azure.
