Mercedes-Benz Trucks unveils 130th anniversary special edition
Mercedes-Benz Trucks has unveiled the ‘130 Years Trucks Edition’ at the IAA Transportation show to commemorate the invention of the first truck by Gottlieb Daimler in 1896. This limited edition, based on the ProCabin driver's cab and available in BigSpace and GigaSpace variants, is restricted to 400 vehicles. The special edition features approximately 30 exclusive interior and exterior design elements, including chrome ‘wings’ around the Mercedes-Benz star and a radiator grille with 140 hand-applied chrome points. The design also incorporates ‘Cardinal Red’, a modern interpretation of the historical ‘oxblood red’ used on classic frames and wheels.
For the first time, the special edition will be offered in both diesel and fully electric drivetrains, with production scheduled to begin in October 2026.
In conjunction with this anniversary, Daimler Truck is also presenting ‘Global Design Vision’, a collection of visionary design studies from its worldwide design centers. These studies explore future mobility themes such as resource efficiency, autonomous transport solutions, and multi-dimensional logistics for vertical cities. These concepts are intended as creative prompts for future challenges rather than previews of upcoming commercial products.
