Mercedes-Benz unveils 2027 EQS sedan and 2026 GLC EQ electric vehicles

Mercedes-Benz announced the 2027 EQS luxury sedan as a major mid‑cycle refresh. The model adds an 800‑volt electric architecture with up to 430 kW DC fast‑charging capability, a 122 kWh battery and an estimated real‑world U.S. range of about 480 miles for the 450+ version. Three powertrain options deliver 402 to 576 hp, and the sedan will be the first Mercedes‑Benz passenger car to feature a steer‑by‑wire system. Consumer Reports estimates U.S. pricing between $90,000 and $180,000, with deliveries expected later in 2026.

The company also introduced the 2026 GLC EQ, a midsize electric SUV that replaces the previous EQC. Built as a dedicated EV, the GLC EQ shares its size with the conventional GLC but offers a quiet, comfortable ride and a high‑tech interior. Launched in spring 2026, it is priced from £55,495 in the UK and holds a New Car Expert rating of B (67%). Reviewers note strong comfort and range, though it is out‑priced by the BMW iX3, which they consider a stronger competitor in price and range.
