Mercedes-Benz unveils specialized CLE and Pagoda restoration projects
Mercedes-Benz is seeing activity across both its modern performance and classic restoration segments. A rare Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung was recently spotted near the Nürburgring. This limited-run model, of which only 30 units are being produced, features an extensive carbon fiber build that reduces weight by approximately 170 kg. The vehicle is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 646 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission.
In the classic segment, luxury engineering firm Helderburg has announced it is accepting commissions for a modernized Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda. Using authentic, numbers-matching chassis, the company re-engineers the classic convertible with upgraded performance components. Options include a rebuilt 2.8-liter six-cylinder engine capable of delivering up to 248 horsepower, alongside modern suspension, brakes, power steering, and interior amenities such as Apple CarPlay and climate control.
