Mercedes-Benz updates C-Class with AI technology and hybrid upgrades
Mercedes-Benz has introduced a comprehensive mid-cycle update to its C-Class lineup, encompassing internal combustion engine (ICE) models, hybrids, and electric variants. The modernization includes significant aesthetic changes, such as a larger front grille with illuminated outlines and star-patterned lighting elements in the headlamps and taillights.
Technological advancements focus heavily on the digital experience and driver assistance. The interior features the latest generation MBUX system, utilizing an AI-powered Virtual Assistant designed for more natural, contextual conversations. The cockpit includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch central multimedia touchscreen. Notably, the manufacturer has reintroduced physical controls, such as a volume knob, to improve tactile usability.
Mechanical updates include enhanced safety systems supported by a suite of eight cameras, five radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. For improved handling, an optional rear-axle steering system is available, allowing the rear wheels to turn up to 2.5 degrees to reduce the turning circle. The powertrain lineup features updated diesel options and a high-performance plug-in hybrid, the C400e, which delivers a combined 395 horsepower.
