Mercedes-Benz to discontinue several EV models in 2027

Mercedes-Benz is restructuring its electric vehicle lineup, specifically affecting its US market for the 2027 model year. The company will discontinue several high-profile models as it shifts toward integrating electric powertrains more closely with its traditional internal combustion engine families.

Confirmed models slated for discontinuation include the EQE sedan (including the AMG version), the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV, and the Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance plug-in hybrid. While the EQE was originally designed as a distinct aerodynamic alternative to the E-Class, the brand is moving toward models like the electric CLA and a future electric C-Class that more closely resemble their gasoline counterparts.

The decision to pull these models from the US market is attributed to a combination of high production costs, intense competition from local and Chinese manufacturers, and evolving consumer preferences. While the EQS sedan and SUV will remain in the lineup for 2027, they are expected to be replaced by next-generation models in the near future.
