Mercedes-Benz Vans begins production of electric VLE MPV in Spain

Mercedes‑Benz Vans has launched mass production of its new fully electric VLE MPV at the Vitoria plant in Spain after a major plant upgrade. The model is the first vehicle built on the company’s new modular Van Architecture (EA) platform, featuring an 800‑volt electrical system.

The VLE seats up to eight passengers, offers a 115 kWh battery delivering 203 kW (276 hp) and a WLTP range of more than 700 km. Fast‑charging at up to 300 kW can add roughly 350 km of range in 15 minutes. "By starting VLE production we are entering a new era," said Tomas Klajn, director of Mercedes‑Benz Vans, while CEO Ola Kelenijus called the vehicle "the next milestone in our 140‑year history." The factory now runs on zero‑emission energy sources and can continue simultaneous production of Vito, eVito and V‑Class models. Inside, the VLE features the MBUX Superscreen digital cockpit with large instrument and infotainment displays, and optional 8K rear screens for work‑on‑the‑go.

The launch marks a strategic step for Mercedes‑Benz’s electrification and digitalisation roadmap, with further VLE variants and battery options planned for next year.
