Mercedes investigates Russell anti‑stall failure at Hungarian Grand Prix

Mercedes‑AMG Petronas examined the unexpected activation of the anti‑stall system on George Russell's car at the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The malfunction caused Russell, who had qualified sixth, to drop to 21st on the opening lap before climbing back through the field to finish seventh. Deputy team principal Bradley Lord explained that an abnormal rise in engine revs triggered the anti‑stall, not any driver error, and that the timing of a Virtual Safety Car later in the race prevented a potential free pit stop that could have boosted his result.

The incident also highlighted teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli's strong performance, who secured a podium finish in third place after employing an aggressive two‑stop strategy.
