Mercedes Maroto-Valer honored with Trust Award

Engineer and scientist Mercedes Maroto-Valer will receive the distinction for Trust at the Hitz Sariak - Premios Palabra gala on October 26. The awards are organized by Grupo Noticias in collaboration with the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, Iberdrola, and Kutxabank.

Maroto-Valer, whose career has focused on advancing low-carbon energy models, emphasized the necessity of scientific communication and transparency. She stated that science which is not communicated is as if it had not been done, noting that sharing knowledge with both the scientific community and society is essential. She also highlighted that basing complex technical knowledge on evidence is vital for building public trust in an era of widespread skepticism.
