Mercedes Martinez launches GoFundMe after sudden wrestling retirement

Former All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Mercedes Martinez has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover medical expenses following a sudden retirement from full-time wrestling. Martinez sustained a torn right ACL in August during a match on the independent circuit.

Martinez revealed that she lacks health insurance and must pay for her surgery and rehabilitation costs out of pocket. She noted that her benefits ended following the expiry of her AEW contract and that her income decreased after transitioning to the independent circuit. While she stated the injury itself is not career-ending, she has decided to retire from full-time competition, though she may make sporadic in-ring appearances in the future.
