Mercedes Moné wins AEW Women’s World Title at All In despite injury
At AEW All In in Wembley Stadium, Mercedes Moné defeated Willow Nightingale to become the new AEW Women’s World Champion. During the match, Moné suffered a broken nose early on, which required medical attention and stitches immediately following the bout. Moné noted that she had to focus on the match despite the injury, and her victory makes her the first wrestler to hold world championships in WWE, AEW, CMLL, and NJPW.
In a separate development, Britt Baker made a surprise return to AEW after nearly two years away from the company. Her appearance was kept under wraps until the Buy-In portion of the event, where she interfered in the TBS Championship match between Maya World and Persephone. Reports indicate that Baker’s return was finalized very late in the planning process; she reportedly did not arrive in London until the morning of the event and was not traveling with the rest of the roster.
Willow Nightingale also competed while managing a broken hand. The severity of the injuries sustained by both Moné and Nightingale remains unclear.
