Mercedes Municipality launches 2026 Strategic Environmental Plan
The Municipality of Mercedes has launched the Mercedes 2026 Strategic Environmental Plan, a collaborative initiative involving the Buenos Aires Provincial Ministry of Environment and the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) through the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of Environmental Policy (CIEPA).
The plan focuses on five integral pillars for sustainable territorial development. Key components include waste management through recycling and composting programs, the safe disposal of oils, electronics, and tires, and comprehensive environmental education in schools. Additionally, the strategy addresses climate change adaptation, food sovereignty, and the preservation of natural assets such as urban forestry and the Arroyo Balta Natural Reserve.
