Mercedes nears 2026 F1 Constructors' Championship in Brazil
Mercedes enters the Sao Paulo Grand Prix on the verge of securing the 2026 Formula 1 Constructors' Championship. Following Kimi Antonelli's Drivers' World Championship win, the team holds a 126-point lead over Ferrari, with 630 points to Ferrari's 504.
To clinch the title in Brazil, Mercedes must outscore Ferrari by at least three points. If Ferrari fails to score during the weekend, Antonelli or George Russell would only need an eighth-place finish to secure the championship. Conversely, Ferrari must outscore Mercedes by at least four points to keep the title race alive heading into Las Vegas.
If Mercedes wins the title, it will mark their ninth overall, tying them with Williams for third on the all-time list. The championship victory carries significant financial implications, as the winning team receives 14% of 75% of the Formula One Management revenue, estimated to be between $140 million and $170 million.
