Mercedes postpones civic-military parade due to heavy rain forecast

The traditional civic-military parade celebrating the 34th anniversary of Mercedes has been postponed from Thursday, the 10th, to September 25. The decision was made due to forecasts of heavy rain and potential storms.

Organizers cited the safety of thousands of participants—including students, elderly citizens, Army members, and security forces—as the primary reason for the delay. The postponement also aims to protect the event's extensive infrastructure, including stages and logistics for visiting groups.

The rescheduled parade will take place on Friday, September 25, on Avenida João XXIII, and will be held at night for the first time. It is expected to feature the public debut of the newly formed Mercedes Marching Band. Other anniversary celebrations, such as national music shows and the National Stuffed Rib Festival, will proceed as planned, as most are held in covered venues.
