Mercedes prepares for the Fiesta de la Tradición

The city of Mercedes, Argentina, will host the Fiesta de la Tradición on November 7 and 8 at the Parque Municipal Independencia. The event, organized by the local municipality and various traditionalist groups, celebrates Argentine rural culture through folklore, gastronomy, and gaucho skills.

Activities include calf pialadas, horse displays, and jineteada competitions. Organizers noted that prize money for these competitions is expected to range between 10 and 12 million pesos. The schedule features free entry on Saturday starting at midday, while Sunday activities, including a parade of gaucho groups and carriages, will require an entry fee of 6,000 pesos.

Mayor Juan Ignacio Ustarroz emphasized the event's role in promoting local identity and boosting the regional economy, specifically benefiting tourism, commerce, and local artists. Guillermo Vola, president of Amigos Peñeros, described the festival as a way to reclaim and honor Argentine roots and customs.
