Kimi Antonelli Wins Belgian Grand Prix, Extends F1 Championship Lead

Andrea Kimi Antonelli took pole position at Spa‑Francorchamps with a 1:44.361 lap, extending Mercedes' run of ten consecutive poles. He converted the front‑row start into victory on Sunday, finishing ahead of Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. Antonelli's win boosted his championship total to 204 points, widening the gap over second‑placed Lewis Hamilton (159 points) and third‑placed George Russell (154 points).

The race saw a first‑lap collision between teammates George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, which forced Russell to retire and left Hamilton to serve a five‑second penalty. Max Verstappen recovered to finish second, while Charles Leclerc completed the podium. Lando Norris qualified third but was demoted to 13th on the grid after a ten‑place penalty for exceeding his power‑unit component allocation.

Mercedes reported a “serious problem” with straight‑line speed on Russell’s car, which had affected his performance throughout the weekend. Despite the technical issue, the team retained the lead in the constructors' standings.
