Mercedes SLR McLaren Edition Roadster to be auctioned
Broad Arrow is set to auction a rare 2008 Mercedes SLR McLaren Edition Roadster. This exclusive vehicle was developed in collaboration with McLaren Special Operations (MSO), resulting in a highly limited production run.
The Mercedes SLR, originally introduced in 2004, was a supercar inspired by the 1955 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé. This specific Edition features lightweight carbon fiber bumpers, a carbon-kevlar front diffuser, and an enlarged carbon rear diffuser designed to optimize airflow. According to MSO, the modifications provide a 15% increase in downforce compared to the 722 Edition and include improved front brake cooling.
Powered by a hand-built 5,439 cc supercharged V8 from Mercedes-AMG, the car produces 626 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds with a top speed exceeding 330 km/h. The vehicle also features a suspension system and geometry developed using Formula 1 testing technology.
