Mercedes‑AMG launches 2026 electric GT 4‑Door Coupé

Mercedes‑AMG revealed the 2026 GT 4‑Door Coupé, its first fully electric high‑performance model. The car uses three axial‑flux electric motors delivering up to 860 kW (1,169 PS) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds. It offers a WLTP range of about 690 km, supports 800 V/600 kW fast charging that adds roughly 460 km in ten minutes, and will be produced from summer 2026 at the Sindelfingen plant with prices starting at €154,700.

In a joint interview, Mercedes‑CEO Ola Källenius and Ferrari CEO Benedikt Vigna discussed the new models and the broader shift to electrification. Both CEOs addressed social‑media criticism of the designs, emphasized customer choice across combustion, hybrid and electric powertrains, and warned against overly rigid state mandates. Källenius highlighted the revolutionary engineering freedom behind the AMG electric car, while Vigna described Ferrari’s Lucence as part of a diversified portfolio rather than a pure‑electric future.
