Mercedes‑AMG launches 680 hp electric CLA 45 with three‑motor drivetrain

Mercedes‑AMG has unveiled the all‑new CLA 45 4MATIC+, the brand’s first fully electric high‑performance model. The car replaces the previous turbo‑petrol engine with a three‑motor axial‑flux system – one motor at the front and two on the rear axle – delivering up to 500 kW (680 hp) peak power and 1,759 Nm of torque. Acceleration is claimed at 0–100 km/h in 2.7 seconds (3.0 seconds in some specifications) and a top speed of 250 km/h, rising to 270 km/h with the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package.

The power comes from a 94 kWh usable lithium‑ion battery operating at 800 V, giving a WLTP range of about 670 km for the sedan and 640 km for the Shooting Brake variant. Fast charging supports up to 330 kW DC, allowing a 10 %‑to‑80 % charge in roughly 22 minutes, with an additional 270 km obtainable in ten minutes. The model features active aerodynamics, AMG Ride Control suspension, seven drive modes and an AMGFORCE S+ setting that simulates a four‑cylinder combustion‑engine sound and provides seat‑vibration feedback.

The CLA 45 is offered in both a four‑door sedan and a Shooting Brake (station‑wagon) body, with pricing in France starting at €49,450. The vehicle made its world debut at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
