Mercedes-Maybach S-Class receives major facelift and luxury upgrades

Mercedes‑Maybach has launched the most extensive update of its flagship S‑Class. The facelift, rolled out in 2026 and previewed for 2027, features a grille enlarged by about 20 % and illuminated framing, along with star‑shaped LED headlights. Inside, the cabin now uses a leather‑free interior, new open‑grain wood finishes and a three‑screen MBUX Superscreen that spans the dashboard, plus individual 13.1‑inch rear‑seat displays. New personalization options are offered through the MANUFAKTUR Made‑to‑Measure programme.

Powertrains are fully electrified across regions: a 530 hp twin‑turbo V8, a 621 hp twin‑turbo V12 and a plug‑in hybrid S‑580e with an EQ‑Hybrid system delivering up to 430 kW. All models use a nine‑speed automatic and 4Matic all‑wheel drive. Additional technology includes a water‑cooled “supercomputer” for assisted‑driving, the latest Airmatic air suspension and rear‑wheel steering.

Maybach chief Markus Bauer said the brand now defines luxury through time, individualisation and sustainable quality, noting the importance of the Chinese market and the shift toward electrified power. The refreshed model will reach dealerships in Germany, Spain and Australia by late 2026, with broader availability in the US, China and other markets in 2027.
