Mercer Island church sold to homebuilder for $7.1 million

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has sold its 2.47-acre property on Mercer Island to a local homebuilder for $7.1 million. The sale of the site, located at 4001 Island Crest Way, was recorded on September 21.

The buyer is identified in King County records as 4001 ICW LLC of Mercer Island, which is an affiliate of LNL Builds, a company specializing in new construction homes in the Seattle and Eastside regions. The property is currently zoned R-9.6, which allows for single-family homes on lots with a minimum of 9,600 square feet.

This transaction is part of a broader trend for the organization; reports indicate the church has been selling several meetinghouses in the Seattle area due to shifting migration patterns and changing membership.
