Merchantrade Money launches Google and Samsung Wallet tap support for Visa prepaid cards

Merchantrade Asia has added native NFC payment support for its Merchantrade Money Visa prepaid cards through Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet. Using the Visa Token Service, the feature tokenises card data, allowing card‑not‑present tap transactions at over 100 million Visa touchpoints worldwide, including transit gates and retail stores.

The upgrade enables multi‑currency wallets to be used without foreign‑exchange mark‑ups and promises faster checkout than QR‑code payments. Executive Vice President Cindy Loo said the move “gives our customers a whole new level of convenience … QR will always have its place in Malaysia, but this gives our cardholders a serious speed upgrade.”
