Mercosul and European Union trade integration remains a key focus

Discussions regarding trade integration and business opportunities between Mercosul and the European Union were highlighted in recent economic forums. In Brussels, the 1st RCCPM Economic Forum focused on strategies for companies within these two markets. Participants discussed the challenges faced by Portuguese companies looking to enter the Mercosul market and the perspectives of Brazilian firms seeking to expand into Europe. The forum emphasized Portugal’s role as a ‘soft landing’ for Mercosul companies aiming to establish a presence within the European Union.

In Brasília, the Brazilian Chamber of Foreign Trade (CBCEX) met to address Mercosul intra-zone trade and measures to increase access to export credit for Brazilian companies. The meeting included representatives from the Economic-Commercial Section of the Argentine Embassy to discuss commercial relations within the bloc. Key legislative items on the agenda included Project of Law No. 5.961/2025, which proposes the creation of an Export Credit Fund (FCE), and discussions regarding the ‘South American single sky’ initiative and the Plano Brasil Soberano.
