Mercosur cattle prices remain stable amid regional variations

Beef cattle prices in the Mercosur region remained stable over the past week, with the Faxcarne Index closing at US$ 4.87 per kilo of carcass, a 2.1% increase compared to late July. Uruguay maintains the highest prices in the bloc, with special export steers reaching US$ 6.08 per kilo.

In Argentina, exchange rate fluctuations have pressured prices. Export steers were valued at US$ 5.71 per kilo, a slight decrease from the previous week. For domestic consumption, prices fell to US$ 5.20 per kilo, marking a monthly correction of approximately 1.9%. In the Cañuelas market, the real price of steers resumed a downward trend in August, reaching its lowest level since late October when adjusted for inflation.

Paraguay is seeing a shift in its market trend after several weeks of strength, with prices currently near US$ 5.30 per kilo of carcass.
