Mercy Hospital woman attempts suicide in Metz facility

A woman attempted suicide at the Mercy Hospital in Ars-Laquenexy on Friday morning, August 28. The individual jumped from a walkway on the fifth level, landing in the main hall area equivalent to the second floor.

Medical staff on-site and emergency services provided immediate care, though the victim is reported to be in serious condition. Following the incident, the hospital activated the Medical-Psychological Emergency Unit (CUMP 57) to provide 24-hour psychological support to witnesses and staff affected by the event.

A judicial investigation has been opened by the Courcelles-Chaussy gendarmerie to determine the circumstances of the act. Authorities temporarily cordoned off part of the hospital hall and elevators to allow for forensic identification and investigation.
