Mercyhurst University athletics report losses in soccer and volleyball

In recent collegiate athletic contests, Mercyhurst University faced losses in both soccer and volleyball. The Mercyhurst women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Akron. Akron established an early lead with two goals in the first three minutes, eventually extending the advantage to 3-0 by halftime. Despite eight saves from goalkeeper Adri Lika, the Lakers were unable to overcome the deficit, with Akron scoring a fourth goal in the second half.

In volleyball, Mercyhurst hosted the Laker Invitational, where they lost a five-set match to Kent State with a score of 3-2. Kent State had a successful day at the tournament, also defeating Niagara 3-0. Kent State's performance was highlighted by Mercedez Brown, who recorded 23 kills, and senior Christina Vigil, who totaled 70 assists across the day's matches.
