Meri Dika Georgievska appointed to Macedonia's Constitutional Court
The Macedonian Assembly voted to appoint Meri Dika Georgievska as a judge of the Constitutional Court, registering 64 votes in favour with no abstentions or opposition. The decision was announced by Assembly speaker Afrim Gashi and Georgievska subsequently took the oath of office before the deputies.
Georgievska holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (1985) and completed a master's in legal sciences at the American College in Skopje in 2014. She passed the judicial exam in 1987 and has served as a judicial trainee, a practising lawyer, a judge at the Basic Court Skopje II (1996‑2005), a judge at the Court of Appeals Skopje, a member of the Judicial Council (2012‑2018), and president of the Court of Appeals in 2023.
During the session, deputy Sali Murati of the European Front highlighted apparent errors in the nomination dossier, noting that the proposed biography lists a graduation date of 16 Sept 1987 and an exam date of 18 Feb 1987—chronologically impossible. He called for the dossier to be corrected before the vote proceeded.
