Lyon stadium attacks: Racist violence reported after OL match

Multiple racist attacks were reported near Groupama Stadium in Lyon following a football match between Olympique Lyonnais and Le Havre.

One victim, a 17-year-old student, was reportedly beaten by a group of individuals wearing hoods and carrying clubs. The teenager sustained serious injuries, including a broken nose and jaw, resulting in 30 days of medical incapacity.

Additionally, Meriem Bouchedda, an opposition official from Rillieux-la-Pape, reported that she and her partner were targeted by a group of supporters who used racial slurs and physical violence. Her partner was prescribed 15 days of medical incapacity.

Olympique Lyonnais has condemned the violence, stating they have a “zero tolerance” policy toward discrimination and have launched an internal investigation to establish the facts.
